Blue Lem in Mile Balmoral Feature Summer Solstice Seeks Turf Race Third Attraction on Card At Washington Park Draws Nine Handicap Performers WASHINGTON PARK, Homewbod, 111., June 2. — Racing secretary Pat Farrell has arranged a splendid week-day program at this plant for Friday. One of the events, a one-mile affair for three-year-olds, will bring out Harvey Fruehaufs Blue Lem, making his first appearance here. Another will mark the American debut of Hasty House Farms highly regarded English colt, Summer Solstice, and the third will engage such as Golden Admiral, Bugledrums, Red Charger, and Olympic. Blue Lem was runner-up to the Belair Stud star, Nashua, in the Florida Derby, being beaten but a neck. Last in that nine-horse field was Saratoga, who gave Nashua a fair battle in last Saturdays Preakness. Blue Lem, who will carry 116 pounds, will be riden by Chris Rogers, who was aboard him when he was defeated by Nashua. High weight three-year-olds in the Karl Eitel are Munchausen and Charles A., each of which will carry 122 pounds. Munchausen was especially impressive in his triumphant effort here. He galloped to an easy victory over older horses at seven furlongs on a heavy track. Prior to that he was third to Racing Fool and Jeans Joe in the Blue Grass Stakes. Charles A. was a winner over Charlies Gem at Gulfstream Park. Simply Aired in Recent Start Make Ready simply "aired" in his last start here and fourth in the race was Sticks, who was deemed good enough to be sent after the Preakness. Make Ready won the one mile race by seven lengths as an odds-on favorite. Top Traffic, winner at a short price here Wednesday, was second. Make Ready, who will be guided by Steve Brooks, was fourth in the Blue Grass stakes. Summer Solstice will engage seven three-year-olds at six furlongs on the turf. He will have high weight of 119 pounds in the affair that is-known as the Gaffsman. Johnny Adams will be in the saddle. Among those opposing the Hasty House Farms imoortation will be Emil Dene-marks well regarded Prince Eric, Fred Hoopers Olympia Lou, who was favored in last Saturdays Coronet Stakes and was unplaced, Corpick, Pine Theme, Roman Senator, and River Gate. Smokelore has the top impost in the race for older horses at seven furlongs. He will carry 124 pounds. Golden Admiral and Bugledrums will each have 115. Montenegrin and Red Charger will race as an entry.
