Caribe Boy Gains Maiden Triumph at ThtstleDown Gonzalez Has Juvenile to Finish Seven Lengths Before Sickle Bull By J. R. BATTY Staff Correspondent THISTLEDOWN, North Randall, Ohio, June 2. — Jockey Roberto Gonzalez, who guided Mr. Fantastic to a new track record here yesterday, piloted the winner of the race for two-year-olds here today. Posted as the fourth race and bringing together maiden juveniles, Gonzalez triumphed with Caribe Boy today much in the same manner as he rode Mr. Fantastic yesterday. Going to the fore at the start, Caribe Boy shook off his opponents in the stretch and went on to tally by seven lengths over Sickle Bull, who saved the place award by a neck margin over Bobnjack. * Owned by A. D. Seymour, the winner returned .60 to his many backers among an estimated throng of 4,500. An odds-on favorite accounted for the second v race* when Jofin came home in front. Going six furlongs, Jofin turned fcack Dashing Locks with three lengths to spare. Kum First was third among the dozen who competed. Jofin carried Johnny Nazareth over the distance in 1:11%. The straight return on Jofin was .60 and youpled with Miss Eyeful in the Daily Double was worth 3.80. Sprinters in Todays Feature A half-dozen sprinters, three-years-old arid older, are entered in the featured race for Friday. The feature offers a purse of ,200 under the conditions presented with this allowance contest of five and one-half furlongs. Mrs. Tom Brownings Golden prip is top weight under 117 pounds. Opposing the five-year-old son of Golden Voyage are Yea Bama, Oil Gusher, Shack -Aette, Mary H. and Rayson Jett.-** Golden Grip arrived here recently from Wheeling Downs, where he gave a good account of Himself in sprints. He has won a couple of purses already this season and figures to be a stout contender in the Plain Dealer. , Yea Bama and Oil Gusher appeared under silks in the same race here on Monday. Both finished far back of Remind Me. However, each displayed some early speed and the outing might have been needed to reach peak condition. Mary H. and Rayson Jiett are newcomers to this section this season while Shackelette paid her way during the 44-day Ascot session this spring by winning a purse and taking dowji a few lesser awards.
