Pvt. Sam Eyes Second Score at River Downs * Meets Bilmond, So Quickly and Many Times in Claiming Sprint , By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, Cincinnati, Ohio, June* 2-— This spacious plant goes into the seventh day of operation with the presentation of- tomorrows eight-race, early week end program. From all indications* racing secretary Larry Bogenshutz substituted quantity for quality, as the bulk of the card is made up of the cheaper claiming * races. Included on the agenda are two maiden affairs, the first carries a price tag anc$ is for those which are two-year-olds. The other is for those in the sophomore division and in general, leaves something to be desired, other than having the maxi* mum starting field in each event with a full contingent to draw from on the also-s eligible list. The* seventh race on the agenda is cus tomarily the feature attraction. For tomorrow, this is a six-furlongs dash for, ,000 platers with a ,300 purse the lurd for the 15 sophomore contestants. E. A. Bischoffs Pvt. Sam, a Mel Eppley" gelding, will be out to garner his second consecutive visit to the winner circle in as many tries at this meeting. Jockey Gilbert Roser, who piloted him, along with, the second half of the Daily Double last Tuesday, will again have the honor and the pair will be troublesome after the encour- aging performance they executed to defeats H. W. and M. F. Thomas Brief Sugar. , While the track was classed as good for the event, the time was i:14% for those six panels and the company was of the" ,500 claiming sort. This short hike up the ladder should not prove too dangexouR; to Pvt. Sams chances. L. G. Glaziers Bilmond is one other of the group which has had an outing ove£ the course this meeting. This Bill Hardey colt has gone with much better than thesQ earlier this year, and in his first campaign here, was a well beaten ninth i nan 11 -horse field, but the company was of thS ,500 variety. Last years record would indicate that he could be dangerous in an affair of this sort if he is anywhere near his former form. The others to meet starter Carl Burnsr include So Quick, Skipping Time, Black Art, Myers Pride, Many Times, Eternal Fan, Beach Line, Heldas First, Aroma antf Garroways Gal. The trio on the eligible list are Silver Ronald, Choice Pick and Miss Minstrel.
