GETTHERE FRANK, away in the first flight, responded readily when shaken to take command entering the stretch and continued on gamely thereafter under a mild hand ride. IN WONDERLAND steadily improved her position to gain closer contention nearing the furlong marker, was unable to seriously endanger the winner when hard hustled through the stretch, but was along in time to prevail over BACTRIA. The latter, never far back, failebTo respond properly when called upon for his best effort. SAGACITY lacked the necessary rally. LADY PHIL tired when placed to stern punishmenL MR. JAY-JAY passed tiring horses. KISSENA and GOLDEN ZIPPER were outrun. OSCAR VEIL moved up boldly entering the stretch, then faltered. CONCENTINA was unable to keep up. SALTSELLER retired steadily after .flashing early speed. SLIDENESS and ROYAL PAN never were dangerous. ALAPAT and DISOPIER never were formidable. HOZAY BOY and CHAVERELL showed nothing. J. J. GALLANT FANAR raced SUNRISE into defeat to take command before going a half mile, held sway to the stretch under clever rating and though weakening during the late strides had enough left to prevail over HIDI-ANN. The latter came fast after being guided to the inside for the drive and steadily was wearing down the leader. PERICLEAN, never far removed from the pacesetters, lacked a rally. LAUGH made the pace to the stretch under steady rating and retained a clear advantage thereafter winning with speed in reserve. SAREMM raced in closest pursuit of the leader to the furlong marker, was unable to overtake the latter when the real test came, but held on willingly to easily previal over the others. GALE RIVER raced evenly from the three-furlorig marker to the stands without mishap. UNCLE GUS raced wide. RUN RIOT retired steadily from a rapid beginning. SWIFT GAIL never menaced. BEGORRA, forwardly placed from the beginning, moved up boldly on the outside to attain a slight lead on the far turn, continued in the middle of the track to increase his advantage leaving the final turn and, though drifting out slightly during the late stages, had enough left to outgame ALCIBIADES II. The latter, slow to gain best stride, came between horses to attain closer contention nearing the furlong marker, then closed with good courage even though he was unable to be sternly persevered with as his rider had lost his whip at the head of the stretch. RICHELIEU II. alternated in setting and pressing the early pace, remained next to the inner rail for the drive and finished with good energy in a sharp effort. MANDINGO Was through early. CANARIS, away alertly, assumed a clear lead soon after the start, held sway to the furlong marker under steadyinq restraint and in a long drive outgamed PHANTOM SONG. The latter saved ground next to the inner rail while racing closest to the leader to the furlong marker, continued on the inside for the drive and closed with good courage, just missing. WIGWAM finished with a belated burst of speed and gradually was getting to the leaders. MOUFLON, far back early, came out for the drive and was along in the concluding strides to finish on even terms with GREEK HOPE. The latter failed-to respond properly when set down for the final test. JET SET had no mishap. LEE CEE was outrun TEDS JEEP was through after a half mile. WINNING FLEET had a rough trip.
