Ryan Sale at Northridge Of Particular Attention Several Horses-in-Training Were Winners at Tanforan Last Week NORTHRIDGE, Calif ., May 7. — Since the recent announcement of the J. H. Ryan and Associates dispersal sale, to be held at Northridge Farms here Monday, June 25, under the Fasig-Tipton Co. banner, horsemen have been paying particular attention to the horses-in-training scheduled to go under the hammer. The majority of the race horses ov/ned by Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Ryan, Miss Mary Strnad and Mrs. Rosemary R. Jordan have, been either campaigning at the cun*ent Tanforan meeting or in training for the Friday opening of the Hollywood Park session. Last week at Tanforan proved a fruitful p_ne for the Ryan and Strnad colorbearers with three of the sales horses collecting victories. Noble Bell, the half brother to Call Bell, and Leona Welch, the hardhitting six-year-old route mare, collected wins on May 1 at the San Bruno" course. Two days later, the two-year-old Call. .Bell filly, Concert Belle, earned winning brackets, defeating Touch Again, another juve nile miss slated to go into the auction ring at the June vendue. Earlier, Miss Strnads State Bell, Noble Bells younger brother, scored his maiden triumph in a-smart performance. Among the faster two-year-olds to show his speed this season is Mrs. Jordans Call Hy, winner t»f the first juvenile dash of the 1956 season on January 4 at Santa Anita. Other horses-in-training set for the sale include the good winning three-year-olds, i Eddie Read; Blue Readings two-year-old full brothei, Bold Reading; Sunday Paper, Fervent Lady, Book News, Cherrytowh Reading Lea, Deep Current, Maturity Bell. Call Me Honey, La Read. Mystic Beau4 Double Up, Future Book, Night Clerk and-Get Together. In addition, 44 broodmares and 34 yearlings will be hammered down to the highest bidders at this dispersal, considered one of the most important in the past decade.
