ROCK PILOT was rushed lo the front at once to quickly open up a good lead and, not unduly hurried while-making the pace; had ample time left in the stretch with which to withstand a bid frcm VALIDON and win under mild urging. VALIDON moved jip while saving ground nearing the stretch turn and continued well to the end. JIMMY THE ONE was outrun early but closed gamely. FOGONAZO passed tiring horses in the stretch. SILVER STATE and SIR TRIBAL stepped badly after going six furlongs and neither seemed lo care to much for the going. LEBANON LAD did not like the going. STONEY CREEK headed PHILIPS PAL when ready on the backstretch -and, seemingly much the best in the going, pulled out as his rider pleased in the stretch and was taken in hand in the last thirty yards. CORTINA, never too far from the pace, improved her position in the stretch to best the ethers. EQUAL STRIFE closed considerable ground. PHILIPS PAL tired in the stretch. FEUDING went in the air at the start and lost all chance. i Scratched— 78745 Robert E. W., 112. . ; Overweight— Equal Strife, 3 pounds. - - • NINTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES.
