NEEDLES, well handled, saved ground when outrun to the last three-eighths mile, was sent to the middle of the track for the stretch run and, responding readily lo urging, wore dewn FABIUS and won going away. FABIUS, well placed from the" start, took command approaching the stretch, held cn gamely when set down in the drive but was unable to withstand NEEDLES. COME ON RED, far back early, moved up boldly entering the stretch, finished willingly tinder punishment but was not good enough for the top pair. COUNT CHIC, unable to keep up early, made a good bid in tire early stretch, then failed to rally wlren hard urged in the drive. PINTOR LEA gradually worked his way forward to the stretch, remained next to the inner rail for the drive but cculd not threaten the leaders, pulling up sore. CAREER BOY lacked early fect but finished fairly well. NO REGRETS tired after showing early speed. HEAD MAN raced forwardly placed to the mile but had nothing left for the stretch run. KING 0 SWORDS bumped with INVALIDATE at the start and failed to recover. HIGH KING was never dangerous. JEAN BAPTISTE raced far back throuqheut. TERRANG had early soeed but failed to stay. BLACK EMPEROR was far back the entire trip. BESOMER was through early. INVALIDATE had brief speed after bumping with KING 0 SWORDS at the break. BEN A. JONES was throuqh early. ALSIDE, a sharp factor from the outset, went to the front approaching the upper turn, held on fairly well under urging during the drive but could not seriously threaten the top one. REAL SIR,- reserved to the last quarter mile, made a good bid in "the early stretch, then weakened. GOV. BROWNING lacked early foot but closed willingly under punishment BONSAND was outrun and had no mishap. ONE GRAND could not keep up. SIR CHATTER was through after ■? half mile. JUST FREEDOM was forwardly p*laced from the start, responded willingly during the stretch run and, after taking command from TWERP, lasted to hold CARLO C. safe. The latter was in hand to the stretch, then was caught in close quarters during the drive and finished well when clear but cculd not overtake the winner, although probably the best. BROKEN SHEDROW was reserved to the last quarter mile, but was unable to better his position during the stretch run. STEADY JET gave a good effort and lacked racing icom during the last sixteenth. MONTEVIDEO was outrun and had no excuse. TWERP went to the front early, made the pace to the last eighth mile, then gave way when challenged by JUST FREEDOM. BLACK BOY was never prominent.
