Bill Limiting Harness Meets To 60 Nights Passes Senate SPRINGFIELD, 111., May 30 A bill that would limit harness race meetings to 60 nights and only permit associations which own their own. tracks to stage such meetings passed the Illinois Senate Wednesday by a 38-to-3 vote. The measure, sponsored by Sen. William J. Connors D. Chicago, had failed of passage the first time it was offered in the Senate. The vote then was 28-to-6 30 affirmative votes are necessary but. when Connors threatened to filibuster by asking for reconsideration of the small loans bill that had just been passed and which increased maximum loans from 00 to 00, the Senate acquiesced arid reconsidered the harness bill, recording a 38-to-3 favorable vote. The measure now moves to the House and if passed there and signed by the Governor would cut 50 days from the harness schedule as it has been in effect the past several years.
