Grand Jury Probing Charge Of Bookmaking at Ascot Park Special to Daily Racing Form COLUMBUS, Ihio., June 25.— William J. Cull, executive secretary of the Ohio State Racing Commission, was in Akron today to appear before the Summit County grand Jury investigating reports of bookmaking operations at Ascot Park during the recent racing season there. Also scheduled to appear before ,the grand jury were William Carnes and John Diebel, commission inspectors. The jury decided to-investigate reports of bookmaking at Ascot after the racing commission cited Gobel Waddell, chief of the Ascot security staff, to show cause why his license should not be revoked. Caihes filed with the commission a lengthy report that charged, in effect Waddell and his staff condoned bookmaking at Ascot. No date has been set for Waddells hearing before the racing commission.
