MARKED ACTION kept pace With COLS DAUGHTER in the first half mile, then drew out from her to a stretch challenge from NELLS. BOY and hold him to the end. NELLS BOY was a forward contender from the start and made a good run through the stretch. BRIGHT SAL went wide in the stretch but finished steadily. SOUTHERN SKIES closed some ground in the stretch. BUSSOLA unseated his rider before the start and ran away about a furlong, then showed some early speed. MODEL ACE failed to offer serious contention. TAKE IT EASY raced close up on the outside from the start and, although required to lose some ground on the stretch turn, was too good for SANDERS ROAD in the drive. The latter slipped through on the inside rounding the stretch turn to take command and held on well. LE SABRE was unable to keep up with the pace but raced steadily to the finish. PEMBERTON was used up trying to overtake BABY OH after entering the stretch and had little left. HARVARD TOM was always a fairly good contender. STAR FLEET and MIKES REQUEST had early speed. Won ridden out; second and third driving. SMILEYTOWN soon raced up close to the leaders and, coming to the outside of them when ready, passed SAL STAR in the last sixteenth and was slowly going away at the finish. SAL STAR headed the field early and shook off JO-MA-BE on the stretch turn to be easily best of the rest. JO-MA-BE had good early speed but weakened a trifle in the run home. The latter jwas permitted to drop too far off the pace in the first part ; and lost some ground on the stretch turn but finished fast and was gaining rapidly. Won driving; second and third the same. 0U,R HOLIDAY, well up from the start, slipped through on the inside of THE WARRIOR after leading in the backstrefch and, withstanding a challenge from RATHERAM after passing midstretch, drew away from the latter near the end. RATHERAM made a determined move at midstretch and drew up on almost equal terms with the leader, then seemed to falter. TWO FISTED, well up from the start, was in rather close quarters next to the rail in the stretch, but finished with good courage. THE WARRIOR got to the front early to race FROSTY MR. into submission but weakened in the final drive. FROSTY MR. went well for a half-mile. HASSEYAMPA trailed throughout. PONDER LEA trailed for about five furlongs, then came fast on the inside nearing the stretch turn and, finding an opening in the last sixteenth, came through to get to the front near the end. IN SHAPE was rated within striking distance early and made a courageous run through the stretch. SAND SHARK saved ground on the stretch turn and was running strongly on the inside when in close quarters at midstretch, then came again to finish well. TOMS SONG was slow to begin arid made up ground but was not a serious threat.
