,06530 Daily Double Posted at Laurel Track Red Arrow, Tax Cut Responsible For Big Payoff- in Special Pool By FRED GALIANI . LAUREL, Md., May 2. — Twenty-eight ticket holders of Daily Double ducats jubilantly trooped to the cashier windows this afternoon after the second race and collected ,065.80 on the combination of Joseph Strauss Red Arrow and Clayton Liddells Tax Cut. The Double was the largest of the Maryland season ahd approached the all-time Laurel high of ,527.80 recorded on October IS, 1949. The lodestone return was started by Red Arrow in the first race, who nipped Charles P. Woods Rabbit in a picture and lit up the tote board with a 45 straight payoff. Red Arrow; a three-year-old maiden gelding who had never been close in his life, was ridden by Richard Gutierrez, marking his first victory at the meeting. Tax Cut was a 2.80 chance in the second race and he defeated Julray Stables Pomposity by a length and a quarter. Tax Cut was handled by Bennie Green. * If Harry Shays Terrify would have won the second race, a Daily Double of 2,-263.60 would have resulted. Terrify failed to do that, however, and finished eighth in the field of 12. A crowd of some 10,000 turned out in alternate sunny and cloudy weather for the semi-final day of the meeting. I
