SIR RARCO was brought to the outside on the turn and, closing with a bold rush down the middle of the track, won going away. TOP-LATION disposed of BOODLETTE leaving the far turn, held a good lead going into the stretch, but could not cope with the winner. CRANBERRY JOE, never too far back, lacked the necessary late response. LOTUS EATER finished willingly in the stretch when finding "clear racing room. BOODLETTE had good speed down the backstretch and then faltered. SHAWNEE BRAVE was in contention until the early stretch. The latter moved well on the final turn from the outside and was slowly getting to the winner. TAXIE SMITH reached close contention into the stretch, then raced evenly. MAID OF GOLD made a bid before five furlongs, then lacked a late response. COULD HE was no threat with a mild late rally. GREEK EMPRESS showed little. LADY READ flattened out after a half mile. SQUAW CREEK, boldly ridden when bulling way through close quarters while going to the far turn, rallied outside the leader into the stretch and drew clear in the late yards. GLORY UNION was hustled to the lead, drew clear on the turn but was no match for the winner. JEWEL BOX was prominently placed and had no late response. FLOWER SHOP took up along the inside midway of the turn, then could not threaten in the stretch run. Jockey Rodriguez claimed a foul against GLORY UNION which was disallowed. COLD- WHILLY weakened under pressure. SECOND STITCH reached close contention on the turn, then weakened. DERBY SPECIAL moved into the lead before five furlongs, was headed into the stretch by MILADY MOWLEE, then coming on again in the late yards, was up to best that rival. MILADY MOWLEE rushed boldly on the final turn tc assume command, then hung in the late yards and gave way to the winner. CHELSEA TOWN dropped back in the run down of the backstretch then responded into the stretch but had no late rally. EAST-WEST came from far back with a belated rush KAZ had to be steadied midway of the backstretch, rallied on the turn and finished evenly. TRANSMUER closed ground after a half mile. SARA-CHANA was done early. MAID OF COTTON broke behind the field. The latter moved in company with the winner, then could not keep up inside the final sixteenth. NOBLE KILL could not make up any ground on the final turn. PRINCE BEL BEAU assumed the lead going to the far turn and gradually weakened in the stretch run. JEN ADAIR broke sluggishly and could not reach contention.
