ITEM, away fast, was hustled into a good lead in the first quarter, saved ground all the way and, holding on gamely after being headed, lield PHIL MARCUS safe in a driving finish. PHIL MARCUS moved up with a rush on the outside, took a short lead approaching the stretch, but raced wide, came on again when straightened out and finished gamely. KENEVA showed a good effort. MADDOX tired. BRIDES VEIL, fractious at the gate, unseated her rider and J. Dupuy was substituted for Barton, she refused to break with the field and was left. Scratched 10451 Princess Juan, 109.
