STAND PAT IN STAKE RACES ; ; Seagram Star Named for Arlingtons 0,000 Added Specials. Nominations for Rich Features at Chicagos Big North Side Track Closing on June 1. . . Stand Pat, winner of several stakes already this year in the colors of the Cana- . dian sportsman, Edward F. Seagram, yesterday was nominated by trainer Frank Gilpin for the Stars and Stripes and Arlington Handicaps, the two 0,000 added specials to be renewed next month at Chicagos popular north side course. In sending in the entry of Stand Pat as well as that of Santan, for the Hyde Park Stakes, a ,000 added event for two-year-olds, trainer Gilpin advised Arlington officials that he would ship the entire division of the Seagram stable under his charge here for the Arlington meeting. Stand Pat, a four-year-old son of John P. Grier and Low Degree, defeated the sensational Head Play in the Philadelphia Handicap, at Havre de Grace and captured the Joseph McLennan Memorial Handicap at Hialeah Park, from the best older horses that saw service during the winter in. Florida. Jack Howard, whose horses always have been singularly successful at Arlington Park, also has made extensive entries for the Arlington stakes. He has named Blue Gauntlet for the 0,000 added Classic as well as for the two 0,000 handicaps. Advising Anna, which was narrowly beaten by Indian Runner in last years running of the Stars and Stripes, again was nominated for that event by Howard as well as for the Arlington Handicap. Four of the Howard two-year-olds were made eligible for the Hyde Park Stakes. Nominations for the Arlington stakes close Saturday, June 1, and Roy Carruthers, general manager of the north side course, reports numerous entries being received with every mail, subscriptions coming from horsemen who are now located at eastern and Canadian racing centers.
