NICK after going the first quarter, drew clear before reaching the stretch and was ridden out sharply to the end. DE VALERA, under slight restraint while following the pace, closed stoutly leaving the back stretch and continued with good, energy to the close. GENERAL LEJEUNE, hard hustled throughout, was going fastest of. all at the finish. ENERGETIC BOY improved his" position gradually, saved ground in the stretch and closed determinedly in the last eighth. ON OUR WAY, quickest to begin, drew away into a long lead under slight restraint for the remainder of the way and was never seriously threatened. LOVE LOST, well placed, -was not hurried during the first three-eighths, responded gamely to pressure when straightened for home and closed with better courage than usual. JOEMAC, under intermittent punishment the last three-eighths, closed racing gamely. THE BOUNCER, prominently placed early, faltered under urging. RED HANS followed in nearest pursuit of the early pace for the first half mile and weakened badly in the closing eighth. DOLENTE was away fast, but dropped back steadily. KOWTOW was kept within striking distance of the leaders during the first three-eighths, moved up steadily in the last five-sixteenths, swung to the outside in the stretch and, wearing down JEAN LEE, drew out to win with speed in reserve. JEAN. LEE, hustled to the front in the first sixteenth, was rated along under slight restraint, was roused with the whip when the winner moved up and, though holding on gamely, was unable to keep pace. MAIDWELL finished with good energy in the last quarter mile. QUEEN HELEN, away fast, dropped back and was unable to enter into contention thereafter. OTTAWA was unable to enter into competition. Won driving; second and third the same. r TORITA, away well, dropped back steadily in the first three-sixteenths, began moving forward steadily after rounding from the back stretch, responded gamely to punishment in the last quarter mile and closed stoutly to wear down TWO BOB inside the last seventy yards and was slowly drawing away at the close. TWO BOB, in closest pursuit of the early pace, wore down DELIBERATE when passing the eighth post and, despite holding on courageously, was unable to hold off the winner. DELIBERATE, a rapid beginner, opened up a long lead, but faltered through the stretch run. WISE KING, well up, was unable to reach the leaders. LADY CARROT, unruly at the post, never could gain a position of prominence. MADAME ZERO, eased back when in close quarters in the first quarter, was unable to recover. ACCOLADE raced forwardly placed from the start and, racing on the outside, indulged RED BADGE in the lead for the first quarter, took command when called upon and drew out, winning with speed to spare. CHINESE EMPRESS, well placed and under restraint early, came around on the outside reaching the stretch and closed willingly under urging. TRULY YOURS, slow to settle into her best stride, moved up on the inside in the last three-eighths, saved considerable ground at the stretch turn and outlasted RED BADGE at the end. RED BADGE, hustled through on the inside to take command, faltered in the closing three-sixteenths. FOUR SPOT, tinder restraint early, moved up on the outside in the run down the back stretch, fought it out gamely to the end, but was unable to threaten the winner. LONG BIT forced her Way "through in the run to. the first turn, followed the pacemaker closely, made a bold effort to keep up and closed gamely under hard riding. OSCILLATION suffered some interference at the first turn. MORALIST -was practically eliminated in the rough riding at the first turn. PHILLIPS lodged a claim of "foul, but it was not allowed.
