HEAD PLAY GIVEN TOP WEIGHT Mason Racer in Post of Honor in Blue and Gray Handicap, Home-woods Thursday Feature. HOMEWOOD, 111., May 27. Head Play, five-year-old son of My Play, and. conquerer of Cavalcade on the occasion of the latters four-year-old debut at Belmont Park several days ago, is assigned top weight of 124 pounds for Thursdays first running of the Blue and Gray Handicap at Washington Park, according to the weights alloted by Charles J. McLennan and made public today As Head Paly is not expected to face the starter for this first distance handicap of the Chicago season, N. W. Churchs Risku-lus, which arrived at the local track from California yesterday, may be the top weight contestant, with 120 pounds. Top Row, A. A. Baronis four-year-old colt that holds the American record of 1:42 for a mile and one-sixteenth and a certain starter for Thursdays nine-furlong holiday attraction, is admitted under 118 pounds, the same weight as McLennan decreed for V. Emanuels Statesman II. and C. N. Mooneys Ted Clark. Weights for others among the forty-four eligibles expected not only to start but to prove real contenders include the following: L. T. Whitehills Gusto, 116; Eskay Stables Sweeping Light, 114; Brentwood Stables Late Date, 113; Mrs. J. D: Hertz Watch Him, 112; Three Ds Stock Farms Quatre Bras IL, 110, and Mrs. R. Several candidates hooked up in the Englewood Handicap, todays feature race, and Sweeping Light, along with other Blue and Gray nominees of lesser prominence, is down for performance in the South Shore Purse, heading tomorrows program. As his final preparation for tomorrows engagement, Sweeping Light clicked off three-quarters from the starting stalls in 1:12, handily, this morning. Late Date, winner of the Inaugural Handicap at Latonia Saturday, arrived at Washington Park by van early Monday. Trainer A.
