MASKED GAL SCORES AGAIN Marm or stein Filly Wins Third Straight and Fourth of Year in Brookside Handicap. SPRINGFIELD, Mass., June 9 Making her first appearance under silks at the meeting, Max Marmorsteins flashy four-year-old filly Masked Gal, an invader from the Empire State, ran her streak of victories to three straight and chalked up her fourth success of the season when she accounted for the featurd Brookside Handicap that topped the tenth program at Agawam Park today. Meeting six other smart sprinters in class D, the daughter of Galetian and Masking ran six furlongs under a confident ride by jockey F. Smock in 1:12, to reach the end of the trip leading A. C. Bosiwicks Lost Friend, also a first time starter here, by one length. Third went to Miss Premier of the W. C. Weant Stable, while fourth was the portion of the spoils for Sir Windsor, when he took the measure of Askaris. Maxine F., and the disappointing favorite. Miss Ginbar, who completed the field in the order named. The Brookside was fifth on the card of eight races and it saw the starters away in good alignment, with Masked Gal having the better speed to supply a swift pace all the way as he dominated the running. In the early stages she led Lost Friend and Miss Premier by a short margin, increased her . advantage when keptbusy on the turn, then i under a mild drive through the stretch held isway to prevail to the finish. Wilh the winner safely over the line to ! keep her latest winning streak unstained. jLost Friend and Miss Premier battled furi-lously for second place, with the Bostwick colorbearer proving the gamest to land that share of the purse by a neck. Then followed Sir Windsor, two lengths away, to head the others. Askaris and Maxine F. were not good enough to make things interesting and there was no real excuse for Miss Ginbar other than she was devoid of speed. Conditions that were the best of the present j week lured a big crowd to Agawam . I Park, and with favorites performing in bet- i I ter style than on any other occasion since I j Saturday, betting in the tote was exceed- j ingly brisk. ;
