CAPITALIST, rushed to the front, set a good pace under hustling tactics, gave "way in the stretch, but held on well. JACK CONNER, unable to improve his early position, made up ground in the drive. RENAISSANCE, .away slowest of all and the trailer for a half mile, improved his position rapidly when guided through the field for the drive. ROYAL IMAGE raced wide and held on well. FITKIN tired. IMPERIAL HIGH improved his position fast after a half mile, bore out badl yat the far turn, reached the lead in the stretch, was unable to draw clear, and tired in the last stages. GOLD STANDARD, well up from the start, was forced wide by IMPERIAL HIGH, came fast when straight, but tired after "offering a bold bid approaching the final eighth. BE BIG jumped into the air at the start, recovered quickly, but tired after reaching the stretch. MORRIS R. began from outside of the stalls and showed little. DOZANA, used up in the pace, tired after relinquishing the lead. COL. JULIAN ran off for a quarter before the start and was done after five-eighths. SIRGAY quit.
