8EA m:s courageous finish Overhauls Brother Ben in Final Strides of Headliner at Columbus Course Rain Threatens. COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 10. Finishing with rare courage on the outside of the leaders in the stretch, Bea M. eventually overhauled Brother Ben, the pacemaker, and Computer during the last few yards to win the Kroger Grocery Purse by a half length. This event attracted the best field of the afternoon at Beulah Park. Brother Ben, in a rousing finish, beat Computer by a head for second place. Walter W. Guy, made the presentation of the trophy to Mrs. B. M. Sturm after the running. Rain threatened during much of the afternoon, but otherwise conditions were favorable. A good crowd attended, it being Ladies Day. In the best finish of the day, Rain or Shine just lasted to nose out Bank Me and Main Event, the trio finishing almost even. Black Anna was never threatened in the first race. Dangerlee scored her third victory of the meeting in capturing the third event, racing past Weapon, the pacemaker, in the final j furlong. Chessie made a Tunaway affair of the fourth dash.
