CONSISTENT ABNER TRIUMPHS Son of The Porter Adds War Cloud Handicap at Aqueduct to Seasons Victories. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 9. Abner, the honest little son of The Porter and Helipden that races for Dewey Bentham, carried the top weight of 123 pounds to victory in the War Cloud Handicap at Aqueduct today. This was fashioned for those of Class C and there were thirteen acceptances of the weights with Charles H. Thieriots Epical taking the place and at his heels followed Quel Jeu, from the Arden Farms stable, while Whizzaway was fourth. Knowing, the favorite of the big field, was the disappointment, faltering badly in the final furlong after having forced the pace from the break. It was a day of racing made up of overnight events but the contests were excellent and a big crowd was out with ideal weather and track conditions prevailing. There was some delay at the post in this feature number and the start was a bit ragged with Conquer first from the stalls but closely attended by Knowing, and Rain-land was a close third, racing on the outside of the other two. Epical was in the front division and Abner was not far away, while Quel Jeu was particularly slow in leaving his stall. Conquer did not last long in contention and Knowing was holding Rainland safe when the head of the long stretch was reached, but Abner had begun his run that was to carry him to victory. He ranged alongside Knowing before the furlong pole was reached and once he had the son of Dunboyne beaten he never faltered though he vas ridden out smartly by LeBlanc to make the victory certain. His winning margin was a length and a half. Epical lost some ground in the stretch but he had the advantage of clear sailing and i finished gamely to take second place, while ; j Quel Jeu also closed a big gap to be third. Knowing, after being headed as he raced along oil the inside, quit badly and was in close quarters as he steadily dropped back to eventually, finish sixth of the big company.
