POMPARAGON, much the best, was under restraint for the first half mile, moved up fast when called upon, took the lead on the lower turn and, drawing away, won as his rider pleased. CORDON BLEU forced the early pace, raced CHUBBY ROAN into the ground and took the lead on the back stretch, but was no match for the winner. CHAGRIN finished well. EXCEED had no excuses. KING TODAY took command approaching the First turn, drew away into a long lead on the back stretch, was taken under restraint, shook off a challenge from WEEDIDIT in the stretch, but was ridden out at the end. WEEDIDIT moved up gradually, made a game bid in the stretch but could not get up. ARMY SURGEON lacked early speed, came to the outside in the stretch and finished well. TREK moved up fast on the lower turn but tired in the stretch. DON TASKER slipped through on the inside on the lower turn, then tired. LADY BRACADALE refused to break with the field and was left.
