CRATAEGUS SCORES BY HEAD Good Ride by Pat Remillard Factor in Victory of Badame Horse at Duff erin Park. TORONTO, Ont., June 24. In one of the hardest fought contests of the current Duf-f erin Park meeting, Crataegus, sporting the ! gold and red silks of Mrs. J. Badame, was a driving winner . over Happy Find and a half dozen other sprinters that met over seven furlongs in the best offering on Thursdays card, which was made up of a series of claiming races. The winner out-. finished Happy Find by a scant head. Charles J., which closed some ground to take care of the other starters, was a half a length better than Margie Lou at the endi A bright, warm sun was responsible for attracting another big crowd to the half-mile course and the racing in the early stages could not have been more formful. In capturing the best offering, Crataegus, was ably ridden by Pat Remillard, Canadas leading rider. Remillard. was content to stay behind the fast early pace established by Gene D., Happy Find and Sue Jones, and it was not until making the last turn that he called on the Badame colorbearer for his best. Crataegus responded in game style and was only a length off the flying Happy Find when straightened out in the homestretch. Here Remillard began to work in earnest and his efforts were well rewarded when the picture showed his mount a head in front.
