MARINE MAID, racing well and in fine fettle,, had much speed to move into a long lead in the first half mile, was shaken up strongly when the real test came and held on gamely to withstand REIGNING LASS. The latter, away well but permitted to drop out of contention almost immediately, was guided very wide and closed with a belated rush. KELT held a forward position from the beginning but was not good enough. FINDON was forced to race on the outside all the" way" and had no excuses. LAST REVUE tired in the last quarter mile. UPPERCUT, going strongly while racing forwardly, took command readily at the turn, continued stoutly and held POLITEN safe at the close. The latter, shuffled back at the turn out of the back stretch, came to the outside and finished gamely. JUDGE PEAK moved up willingly entering the stretch and held on willingly to the close. GREY MAN had good speed early but tired steadily when caught. GENERAL A., as usual, slow to begin, was unable to enter contention with the leaders. FAIR BILLY was outrun. THREATENING showed some early speed. There was some roughing at the turn out of the back stretch and YANKEE BRIGADE was caught in a jam. LARGESS, racing in her best form, followed close to the leaders, responded gamely for the final drive and, finishing courageously, was up inside the final sixteenth.. RABY RATTLER, sluggish in the early running, circled his field and finished fastest of all at the end. CHIRIQUI, outpaced early, bettered his position steadily and came gamely in the final issue. BUDDIES, fractious at the gate, was hurried to the front, saved ground all the way, but tired badly under punishment when reaching the stretch. VEILSTAR went wide to close a good gap. MY KATHERINE was never prominent. BELLE ELAN raced poorly. JUSTDUN showed early speed. WELSH LAD showed a dull effort. SOPHIA C. .was caught in tight quarters at the start. LEE WALKER improved his position steadily and was gaining on the first two at the end. ESTHERS CKOICE was hard ridden all the way and had no excuses. GEORGIE PORGIE was unable to" stay. LIFELIKE was rated close to the leaders, moved into a short lead when coming through on the inside of CHAUVIN entering the stretch, but tired suddenly right at the end. JUSTA GAL was well up all the way and had.no mishaps. BLACK WITCH broke out of hand, went extremely wide at the first turn and snowed a dull effort. She can do better. BOUNDING was used up early. BABY WITT, closer up than usual in the early running, could not improve her position when it came to a drive. TAMBOV raced evenly throughout. SAXOPAL began tiring after three-quarters. The latter followed in nearest pursuit of the winner and continued stoutly when the final test came. SIR DEAN bettered his position gradually and finished with a rush in the last three-sixteenths. UNION raced well placed, but was not good enough. MADDENING had no excuses. BEAU BON was unable to enter a forward position. CRESTON was outrun. Overweight Beau Bon, 1 pounds. BUZZIN AROUND, squeezed back when the start came, luckily found racing room on the inside until reaching the leaders at the stretch turn, came to the outside of DISOWN and in" a stout finish was up in the closing strides. DISOWN raced GOLDEN KEY into submission, rallied nicely and fought it out with excellent courage. AUREATE was stoutly ridden from, the start and finished with good speed. GOLDEN KEY forced a stif early pace but was unable to stay whei the real test came. BROADSTEP was on the "outside all the way. DOUGLAS F. tired after going a half mile.
