mmmm mm HEARTEASE AGAWAM WINNER Takes Lead Shortly After Start and Holds Sway Throughout Chauvin Surprises. AGAWAM, Mass., June 24. Heartease, under the silks of the El Chamiso Stable and a well-judged ride by jockey A. Schmidl, dominated the field of six platers which met in the sixth and the best race of the eight-race card at Agawam Park today. Hustled to the front immediately after the start the four-year-old filly held sway throughout the mile and one-sixteenth vent to earn the decision by one length. Fairest Flag, racing for C. B. Sturm and the favorite, was closest to the winner at the end, while an additional length and a half away, Baby Witt was third. Tambov was fourth, Saxopal fifth, and Italian Harry trailed the small field. The field was quickly dispatched and as Heartease was sent to the van position, Sax-opal raced close up next in line and before Fairest Flag. This order was maintained until the leaders reached the turn fronr the backstretch where Fairest Flag was asked for speed. Responding well to the urging of jockey George Rose, Fairest Flag dislodged Saxopal from second position and was again placed under restraint permitting the leader to hold sway. As the leaders reached the front lane, Rose went to work energetically on his charge in an effort to reach the leader. Heartease had been well rated, however, and under pressure she was able to thwart the challenge. Baby Witt, which had been slow to find her best sped, moved up into third position when he settled into stride after half a mile and raced evenly thereafter to retain third honors at the end.
