"COMMISSION LETS PERMIT i I FOR NEW FLORIDA TRACK JACKSONVILLE, Fla June 24. The Florida State Racing Commission in a special session here today, unanimously approved the application of the Hollywood Jockey Club to construct . a 1,300,000 racing plant in Broward County. Appearing before the commission were J. M. Smoot, president of the club, and Fred M. Valz, counsel for the organization. Smoot said advertisements of the local option election on the track question will be inserted in Broward County newspapers next week, and that it will be held at the earliest possible date. According to Smoot, the new track, when completed, will represent an investment of approximately ,300,000 and will be the finest plant in the world. The feature race, during its initial season, will be a Florida Handicap, wiht a prize of 00,000 at stake. It will be the richest stake in the world, I Smoot declared, and should attract the -finest stables in the countiy.
