WATCHERUN HANDY WINNER Takes Best Race on Program of Claiming Affairs at Riverside Park Weather Hot. KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 24. Watcherun was a: handy winner of the first race oh the program, which was for horses that had not won two races this year, and twelve went postward to compete for the purse over the Futurity course. Two lengths back of the winner came Commandman, which in turn was a length in the van of Marble Boy, with Alkali, the early pacemaker, finishing put of the money. After a long delay at the gate, caused mainly by the unruly actions of Beryl King, the field was sent away in good alignment, with the speedy Alkali taking command shortly after the start, closely followed by Marble Boy, with Watcherun close up in a contending position. As they swung into the stretch Alkali started to tire and Watcherun moved up on the outside and in a brief drive took the lead, increasing it steadily all through the final eighth mile and at the end had drawn clear. Commandman finished gamely to take second place from Marble Boy, while the latter had but little trouble in saving third from Wittora. Thursdays races at Riverside Park were turned over entirely to the claiming division and well-filled fields paraded to the post in the majority of the races. The weather again was extremely hot and, despite the heat, a fair crowd was on hand when the horses went to the post for the initial race.
