1 BLUE BONNETS TURF NOTES 4 : The apprentice allowances were waived on Mrs. P. Hinphys Bungler in the sixth event Tuesday and C. A. Werlines Warrior Slave in the eighth event and they shouldered five additional pounds. T. H. Smiths Ballymote carried the corrected weight of 145 pounds in the running of the steeplechase event Tuesday, ten more than stated in the original entries. There is no lack of racing material in the province of Quebec, which may be noted when 272 different horses appeared on the program for the first eight days of the Blue Bonnets meeting. Marty Schenker returned to Montreal from New York where he has been on business and is again engaged in making preparations for the opening of the Mount Royal track of the Back River Jockey Club. Jockey H. Chinn returned to saddle duty, having completed his three days suspension for disobedience at the starting gate. Long Count and Pancoast were additions to starter Richeys schooling list which now totals eight. A shipment of horses arrived at Blue Bonnets from Dufferin Park, Toronto, late Monday evening which includes R. S. Wales Black Stockings, A. E. Cliftons Mr. Wild-wood, Mrs. E. C. Barkers Mina S and Mrs. C. Roccos Gingery in charge of trainer C. Rocco; Mrs. L. Carmichaels Achras and Depresin Chink, in charge of trainer Sydney Page. A keen contest has developed for the gold watch which will be given to the rider scoring the most points during the meeting. The points are computed by three for winning mounts, two for second and one for third. C. W. Smith is leading for the first eight days of the meeting when he has piloted nine winners, eight seconds, and two thirds, for the total of forty points. Johnny Convey is in second place with thirty-four points, having seven winners, five seconds and three thirds. Walter Halliburton is next with twenty-five points, and C. E. Payne is third with the total of twenty-three. Trainer M. Parsons of London, Ontario, arrived at Montreal with the platers Right-foot and Flying Leaves, the property of his father, A. Parsons. Trainer T. J. Martell reports ahat L. S. Sheffren shipped Miss Twinkle from Chicago for him to campaign in Quebec. He has also taken up the platers, The Dauphin and Clash, which wintered at the Stewart Farm on the outskirts of Toronto. Lord Shaughnessey was a visitor at Blue Bonnets Monday afternoon and viewed the sport from the clubhouse enclosure. The apprentice" allowances were waived from E. Bowies Colored Artist, Mrs. D. M. Clarks Baby Princess, H. R. Smiths Authority, in the third event, and D. Thompsons Peter Pal in the second event, and they shouldered five pounds additional. Bea M., from the P. M. Sturm Stable, picked up a penalty of three pounds, making her weight 106 pounds.
