Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third easily. ENCORE came over sharply after the break, forced the pace to the eighth post, shook off ALARMING and drew away under pressure. ALARMING showed early speed on the inside, responded to pressure, but hung at the end. NATIONAL was jammed up at the start and forced back, then outlasted SPA MADNESS. The latter was annoyed severely at the start and practically eliminated. FOUR BAGGER was knocked out of contention when annoyed and could not make up ground. SECOND RACE ABOUT 1 1-2 MILES. Won easily; second and third driving. BARTHOLDI outran and outjumped his field from the start, was rated along steadily and won with speed in reserve. FLYING FALCON came again in the final half mile and finished well. GRAIN DE CAFE met with repeated interference in the early running, then finished fast. FLAYOX had a rough trip throughout. SHASTA NEGRA was in close quarters going to the first turn, then faltered thereafter. RUTH WRACK showed speed the first mile, then quit. WIZARDESS saved ground throughout. KNOCKNAMOOR was outrun. ROUGE ET NOIR was close up the first part but dropped back nearing the far turn, came again through the stretch and was gaining fast at the end. NIGHT BUD was outrun to the stretch turn, was guided to the outside, moved up fast, then hung at the end. BITTER BERRY was rated along steadily and had no mishaps in the running. Won driving; second and third the same. ADVOCATOR, away slowly and outrun the first part, came to the outside in the stretch and then finished fast through the final eighth. FORTY WINKS followed the pace under steady restraint, bothered CARNARVON repeatedly through the stretch, then held on well and pulled up sound. CARNARVON was rushed into command at the start, showed good speed, but tired from being bumped, and was carried to the inside in the final eighth. TOP RADIO was outrun and had no mishaps. MONUMENT was in close quarters throughout and wasshuffled back at the. far turn and eliminated from contention, although he came again at the end.
