NO ENDING, suited by the footing, was given a mild breathing spell when FAST START was rushed Into the lead, came out into the firmer footing when reaching the home stretch, regained command and drew cut easily at the close. SING LOW followed close to the leaders and held on willingly for the final drive. FAST START took a short lead midway of the turn, was unable to get clear and swerved repeatedly during th stretch drive. SHRED could not better her position. SPITTENIMAGE assumed command directly after the start, was kept in the better footing wherever possible, shook off CHILLY EBBIE and held JUSTA FLIGHT safe under light urging. JUSTA FLIGHT worked his way up on the outside and finished courageously in the late stages. CHILLY EBBIE followed close to the winner until reaching the stretch, then tired steadily. GREY MAN was hard ridden but could not better his position. SINGLE A. had no excuses. SAN RAFAEL was never a factor. MAGIC GIFT was outrun. Scratched 43862Proteus, 115. WELSH LAD was sent up quickly after the start to enter contention, worked his way forward steadily, but could not trouble the winner. SHEBANG finished stoutly while circling her field. MY KATHERINE was on the outside all the way and showed a good effort. SIR ISAAC was unable to threaten. HIS NIBS raced evenly. GOLDEN KEY, a keen factor in the early running, wore DOUGLAS F. down entering the stretch, withstood a stout drive willingly and barely lasted long enough to outstay AUREATE. The latter improved his position gradually on the outside and finished stoutly approaching the end. DOUGLAS F. raced in his best fashion and held on stoutly after leadinc. BROADSTEP also went in his best form and showed a good effort all the way. BALANCED BUDGET raced wide for the entire trip. INA DEAR was under stout urging, but failed to stay. ALS PRIDE could not make up any ground in the final drive. BORO POKER tired after a half mile. HAPPY HOST was outrun. The latter displayed high speed while setting the pace, but could not withstand the winner under extreme pressure. RITORNO, forced to race on the inside for the first three-eighths, swung to the outside in the final drive, but could not close in on the first two. SPOTLESS, slow to get into racing stride, closed gamely in the last half mile. CANTERWAY, under steadying restraint for three-quarters, flattened out when put to a drive. TRAITRESS was rushed off her feet to race with the leaders. FALEEN was blocked going to the first turn and fell back. Overweight Traitress, 3 pounds. Corrected weight Canteraway, 116.
