t LATONIA TURF NOTES T . s 4 Following the close of the Latonia season , July 10, jockey Willie Hanka will go to Thistle Down. He will do the majority of the riding for Tom B. Young. L. C. Ewald sold Rapparee to Miss E. Black and will continue to train the plater, ! along with two others owned by that sportswoman. The latter two are Takes Time and Gosheen. A. L. Taylor left for Cleveland to attend to preliminary details concerning the sale of the thirty horses he has in training here at some date during the Thistle Down meeting. However, purchase of the horses may be made privately pending the sale. R. J. Kleberg of Texas, who maintains the King Ranch, among which number is included the crack three-year-old filly Dawn Play, was a visitor at Latonia Tuesday. He has a stable of racers under the direction of Bill Crump. Kleberg "plans to leave for his Texas home later in the day. Jockey George South donned his riding togs this afternoon at Latonia and returned to the saddle. South is attached to the F. L. B. Stable, trained by H. H. Battle. Otis Clelland, trainer of the Mis. R. J. Murphy stable, returned from Chicago Tuesday morning, where he placed the five horses he sent to Arlington Park under the care of Kirby Ramsey. The remainder of Mrs. Murphys stable goes to the Chicago track at the close of Latonia. J. A. Minor, representative of the Railway Express Company, is here for the purpose of -looking cars for the shipment of thoroughbreds to other racing points after the climax of the 1937 season is reached here. J. P. Sallee reported that he has engaged jockey Willie Hanka to ride Flip Flap in the renewal of the Latonia Oaks, ,500 added stakes for three-year-old fillies, which will headline the closing days program at Latonia on July 10.
