BEN KYGERS FIRST PURSE Graduates in Juvenile Race Opening Days Sport at Riverside Heat Affects Attendance. KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 29. Tuesdays offering at Riverside Park was made up of seven races and evenly matched fields paraded to the post in the majority of the races. The weather was extremely hot and while this had an effect on the attendance, nevertheless, an excellent crowd was on hand when the horses went to the post in the first race. Ben Kyger carried the colors of A. W. Mosley to a handy victory in the running of the first race, which was for maiden two-year-olds, and seven of that age went post-ward to contest the issue at five furlongs. Reveille Man on his good showing in his only start, was made an odds-on choice in the donations. From a good start the speedy Tempermental was the first to show in front, closely followed by Ellaway, with the winner leaving somewhat tardily. On the lower turn, Ben Kyger moved up and was the one to force the pace with Tempermental as the pacemaker. In the stretch, the winner moved up fast on the outside and inside the final eighth had taken the lead, which he increased steadily until at the end he was four lengths in the van of the fast-finishing Opal M. D. The latter was forced to race wide all through the race, but gained steadily in the final eighth to save second place from Coloration, which finished gamely on the inside. Tempermental tired badly in the final sixteenth and dropped put of the money, while Reveille Man showed nothing to. warrant the support received in the donations.
