XENOMAY headed SISTINA when ready on the back stretch, was taken in hand and, meeting with little opposition, was never in danger although subjected to punishment all through the final sixteenth. AKSALA was under slight restraint most of the way and, making his move in the stretch when too-late, finished gamely next to the rail. SLOGAN closed much ground when urged and was going well at the finish. CRYSTAL CHIEF was off poorly. SISTINA tired badly. The others were never serious contenders and raced poorly. SIR WAG went to the front soon after the start and, well rated after taking a short lead, drew away from his opponents, then saved ground on the stretch turn and was never in serious danger. LAPLAND was permitted to drop too far back in the early running, but came fast after leaving the back stretch and was gaining on the winner near the finish. VICTOR was never far away and raced fairly well to the finish. EL PORTAL closed much ground, but made his move too late. CANTRIP was never dangerous and pulled up sore. NASEBY, well rated in the early running, moved up steadily after leaving the back stretch and, after heading BLIND BLARNEY in the stretch, cut over, to have the latter in close quarters, and had-enough left at the end to hold ANCESTRAL safe. The latter had his usual early speed and, still under restraint after being headed by BLIND BLARNEY and the winner, came fast on the outside in the stretch and was gaining at the end. NAHILI was close up under restraint on the inside in the first half mile, but failed to respond when called upon. EASTER TOMMY and DONNA BONITA tired. DANKE SCHON went to the front early and, taken under restraint after entering the back stretch, withstood a challenge from PAPENIE nearing the stretch turn, again drew out after saving ground entering the stretch, but had to be hard urged near the end. PAPENIE bore out on the first turn, then raced up strongly on the back stretch, but raced rather Avide on the stretch turn and could not get up although finishing well. SHASTA RACKET was never far back and showed a creditable effort. KEENE JACK was in close quarters several times while racing on the inside. BELOW ZERO was never a contender and pulled up slightly lame. HIGH MARTIN was off poorly and was never a contender. SHARP GIRL was forced very wide on the first turn and was never dangerous. CALAVERAS, showing improvement over his last race, took a forward position early and was taken in hand, then came fast when called upon in the stretch, to catch SPRING FLOOD near the end and win under urging. SPRING FLOOD went to the front early and, showing good speed while setting the pace, jostled SIRGAY slightly when the latter challenged in the stretch and held him safe, but could not resist the winner. SIRGAY made a strong move after leaving the back stretch and, although meeting with slight interference an eighth out, raced gamely to the end. McCARTHY saved ground and finished well. KING ROYALE never seriously threatened the leaders and quit badly In the stretch. THE SINGER closed a gap in the last half mile. SIXTH RACE BAY MEADOWS 1 Mile Win Place Show Winner 1.
