MAIN MAN MAY MAKE 1938 DEBUT IN PHOENIX HANDICAP LEXINGTON, Ky., April 9. Main Man, mainstay of the J. B. Respess stable, and a nominee for the Phoenix and Ben Ali Handicap, two of the principal stakes offerings at Keeneland, is likely to be seen under colors for the first time this year in one of the two aforementioned fixtures. Main Man was wintered at Oaklawn Park and trained in impressive fashion under the direction of Howard Hoffman. The four-year-old son of Hildur is receiving a special prep for the Clark Handicap at Churchill Downs but if track conditions are favorable so that the final touches to his training can be applied, it is probable that he will make his debut in the Phoenix. The flashy colt was one of the widely heralded prospects for the 1937 running of the Kentucky Derby, but went amiss prior to the running of the stake and did not start.
