BELMONT STAKE NOMINATIONS 600 Entries Received for Fixtures Which Closed on March 15. Brookmeade Stable Heads List of Nominators With Thirty Entries War Admiral Named for Jockey Club Gold Cup. NEW YORK, N. Y., April 9. Six hundred entries were received for the Westchester Racing Associations stakes, which closed on March 15 and which, with the exception of The Jockey Club Gold Cup, are to be run during its coming spring meeting at Belmont Park. The Jockey Club Gold Cup will be run during the autumn meeting. The decrease in the number of entries this year is undoubtedly due to the fact that heretofore these events have always closed in early December of the year previous to their running. As a majority of owners now race at the various winter meetings in Florida, California and Louisiana, many horses which might have been nominated in December are eliminated as stake possibilities. The list of nominators is headed by the Brookmeade Stable, with thirty entries, followed by Belair Stud with twenty-eight; E. R. Bradley and John Hay Whitney, twenty-four each; Wheatley Stable, twenty-three; G. D. Widener, nineteen; Greentree Stable, eighteen; J. E. Widener, sixteen; William Ziegler, Jr., fifteen; W. H. LaBoyteaux, fourteen; Falaise Stable, Mrs. E. D. Jacobs, Long-champs Farms and Glen Riddle Farm, thirteen each, and Starmount Stable, twelve. NEW NOMINATORS. Entries were received from several new nominators, notably, River Edge Farm, Harry T. McLeod, W. Hopkins and Mrs. Clara Lyon, all of New York City, and A. C. Norris of Ballston Spa, N. Y.
