1 1 BOWIE TURF NOTES f Francis Dunne notified horsemen that Aqueduct stakes for the summer meeting close on Monday, April 18. Starter James Milton reported that his ground crew schooled twenty horses at Havre de Grace Friday morning despite the inclement weather, and track conditions. C. Frost will be programmed as trainer for Cleaveland Putnams Moon Side and will saddle the horse for his engagement. Jockey Harry Richards returned from New York where he went to confer with trainer Burch of the W. M. Jeffords stable. Richards reported that a division would be shipped to Havre de Grace for that meeting. Jockey R. Workman left for Miami to ride Infantry in a stake race. The contract rider for the A. G. Vanderbilt stable is due back on Monday. Jockey Wayne Wright will ride the opening day at Havre de Grace and then leave for Jamaica where he will ride during that, meeting. Saparoo, a carded starter in the third race Saturday, was scratched by the stewards. The five-year-old injured himself while at the gate during the schooling hour Saturday morning. A division of the E. R. Bradley stable, in charge of Bill Hurley, arrived at Havre "de Grace Saturday from Miami. The clubhouse of the Elk Ridge-Harford Hunt Club at My Lady Manor was destroyed by fire Saturday morning. The loss, in addition to the building, was several valuable paintings and many trophies.
