SCHOOL KEENELAND JUVENILES Many of "Babies" Are Well Advanced Starter Hamilton Directing Activities. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 9. Although inclement weather and adverse track conditions during this week had a tendency to retard the preparation of two-year-olds in schooling, there is little danger of the juveniles not being ready to embark on their racing careers at the outset of the season. Hal Price Headley, Keeneland Association president, instructed R. W. White to resume schooling of the youngsters Saturday, regardless of the weather and track conditions. White has been here since the close of Oaklawn Park attending to the breaking of two-year-olds from the starting gate. He stated that many of the "babies" are well advanced and only a little more training is all that is necessary to have them properly educated. However, there are quite a few quartered at Keeneland which are already wise to the ways of racing, due to a winters campaign in Florida, California and Arkansas. It is the non-starting group that will receive the most attention from here out. Starter William Hamilton divided up his crew of assistants into sections, sending two to Churchill Downs, and he has been commuting between Louisville and Lexington to direct the activities. Hamilton returned from Churchill Downs Friday and contemplates remaining here until the close of the Keeneland season. He expressed satisfaction for the progress achieved with the-schooling of the younger crop of thoroughbreds this spring.
