ATTAINMENT, racing greatly improved, gained fast in the last half mile, swung to the outside when making her run, finished strongly in the stretch drive and was up in the closing strides. COYA, hard hustled all the way, came out of tight quarters at the turn and fought it out stoutly after engaging PRINCE DANNY at the stretch turn. PRINCE DANNY, hard ridden after getting to the front, saved ground, but tired badly when caught. LADY CHINIQUY raced in strong fashion early, but tired. BLAKEEN tired. DOROTHY HICKS could not menace. PUMPGUN, last at the start, settled into stride swiftly to reach his field, displaced the leaders with a rush, opened up a long lead, but tired badly and barely lasted long enough to withstand XAVIER. The latter worked his way up between horses after being outrun early, then closed full of run and was catching the winner at every stride nearing the end. ARAHO LASS was well up from the beginning and was best of the others when unable to threaten the first two. HI-TIDE raced well. GALLANT FRIAR was never dangerous. SPORT HEEL could not get clear after assuming the lead. FAIR showed speed for three-eighths, then quit. Overweight Hi-Tide, 4 pounds; Fair, 2. THIRD RACE 1-2 MILE. The latter followed in nearest attendance of the winner throughout and came determinedly under a severe drive. ISKIE was carried wide into the home stretch, dropped back, but came again nearing the end. DARBY DEAN, sluggish for the first eighth, came up fast between horses at the stretch turn and held on stoutly to the finish. DICTY STEP was pinched back slightly nearing the turn and was taken wide in the last three-eighths. GOOD STAR raced nicely. TRAVEL AGENT tired after going three-eighths. ROCK HIGH, hard ridden to overhaul CAROLINA KID and JOE D. in the first three-eighths, tired fast when caught. JOE D. broke well, was pinched back at the turn out of the back stretch and recovered, to be best of the others. GOLD COLOR was unable to reach the leaders at any stage. TATTERDEMALION, forced to race on the inside in the early running, was sent to the outside in the last half mile when settled into stride, wore down GYRAL at the stretch turn and continued stoutly while bearing out, to draw out swiftly. GYRAL, racing nicely, improved his position and was hard urged to get into the lead, saved ground, but was unable to stay when challenged. INFANTRY was in the thick of contention from the start, challenged stoutly in the last half mile and held on willingly to the end. FRANCESCO, away fast but unable to hold a forward position, closed stoutly between horses in the stretch drive. PANTHER CREEK dwelt slightly when the start came, then settled into stride and finished courageously. NO SIR raced in close quarters for three-quarters, then found racing room and finished gamely. COURT SCANDAL was never a factor. MUCHO GUSTO left with the first flight, but was not good enough. JACK PATCHES was outrun. COMO NO II. quit badly.. Overweight Indomitable, 4 pounds. SIR REG raced on the outside from the beginning and closed strongly in the last half mile. BAIN MARIE, steadied back of the leaders, made a stout bid nearing the home stretch, hut faltered in the final drive. TUTTICURIO tired after going three-quarters. BLACK GIFT could not threaten. EASIEST WAY was never far from the leaders, saved ground, but failed to menace during the closing test. JILDAC ROSE was a strong factor for three-quarters. The latter, rated forwardly, moved up fast in the final half mile, gained a short lead at the stretch turn, but faltered approaching the finish. LITTLE BANNER, beginning slowly, circled her field when in full stride and closed a big gap. BLIND BROOK raced forwardly until reaching the final turn, then tired. FAR CRY made up ground slowly in the last five-sixteenths. TUT TUT could not menace. DEV was held safe. RAVENNA quit badly in the last five-eighths. MALICE raced poorly.
