TRAMWAY, never a great distance back and under mild restraint for the first quarter, came around the leaders rounding the far turn, was roused approaching the final eighth and, moving into command with a rush, drew clear rapidly and was well in hand in the final sixteenth. TIGER JOHN, away fast and displaying good speed, held on gamely, but could not withstand the winner. ALROSE, in close quarters early, was steered out for the final drive and finished with a rush. ALLEGORY, hustled from the start tired. JERRY FLIRT had no mishaps. DINAIN lacked early speed. MONKS TIME could not improve his position. BIG ONE faltered. Overweight Alrose, 3 pounds; Dinain, 2. SUNTAR, hustled from the start, and on the inside, was inclined to bear out approaching the final eighth, but held on gamely. COUNTESS REIGH, always best of the others, was unable to menace the leaders in the final eighth. MON CLOUD had no mishaps. DEMANDING lacked early speed. PARKA was through after three-eighths. VOLA BOWERS quit. LITTLE SIGNET bore out on the turns. The latter, on the outside throughout was unable to secure clear racing Voom, shook off KEEN GLOAMING when straightened out for the final drive and was racing gamely at the end. MAY SEE lacked early speed, responded to strong urging while racing in the middle of the pack in the final drive and was up in the closing stride. KEEN GLOAMING tired in the final stages. BURR HICKMAN closed gamely. WAVY SEA dropped out of it soon after the start and raced wide on the turns. CHANTESUTA had no mishaps. ARLADALE quit. INCOGNITO had parly speed. PEGGYS SUN, racing forwardly from the start, was unable to menace the winner in the final drive, but outgamed LEAP YEAR LADY. The latter, hustled from the start, tired in the closing strides. CIRCUS NIGHT, prominent from the start, failed to respond to strong urging and just lasted to- dead heat LAUS for fourth place. LAUS, away slowly and forced to work his way through the field, finished strongly on equal terms with LEAP YEAR LADY at the finish. SNOW FLOWER had no mishaps. MAIDEN DREAM, shuffled back at the start, was allowed to settle into best stride, responded to strong urging in the drive and outgamed HEDON. The latter finished gamely. MORNING MAIL raced on the outside the entire trip. COPPER LAD failed to respond when called upon turning into the stretch. JILDAC ROSE lacked speed. WAR JEST was used up setting the pace.
