! GENERAL NEWS OF DAY f 5 4 Judge John F. OConnell in Probate Court Thursday denied the claim of Eddie Guerin, once an internationally notorious criminal and the first man to escape from Devils Island, the French penal farm, to a share in the 5,000 estate of his sister, Mrs. Harriet A. Mitchell. The claims of twenty others who were associated with Guerin in the contest were similarl turned down. A million dollar damage suit against Dr Allan R. Dafoe, physician for the Dionne quintuplets, and three other defendants was brought to an abrupt end Thursday in federal court. Judge John P. Barnes ordered the suit dismissed. 4 Twelve guards and keepers at the Southern Illinois penitentiary at Chester, 111., were suspended for short terms following Gov. Henry Horners personal investigation of the escape of five insane convicts last Saturday. Four of the men have been recaptured. The fifth, Walter Brown, still is at large and is believed to be somewhere in the vicinity of Bloomington, his former home. He is and murderer.
