BREEDERS FUTURITY REVIVAL Lexington Juvenile Race Expected to Attract Best Youngsters. Noted Mata Hari Last Winner on Record-Predict Gross Value of 7,000 This Fall. LEXINGTON, Ky., Sept. 30. Revival of the Breeders Futurity at Keeneland race course this fall probably will bring together one of the smartest fields that ever went to the post of this event. With very few exceptions all the top two-year-olds of the current season are eligible for the race which will be run at the Lexintgon track on Saturday, October 22. Ths Breeders Futurity was inaugurated at the old Kentucky Association race track here in 1910 and was run each fall through 1933. The last three revivals of the race, however, were held at Latonia because the Lexington track did not conduct fall racing in 1931, 1932 or 1933. Dixiana Farms outstanding mare, Mata Hari, won the last running when she beat Giggling and Discovery in 1:09. Other horses to win the event have been Technique, The Bull, Mate, Gallant Knight, Flight of Time, Harry Kelly, The Manager and others. Among the horses that ran second or third were Westy Hogan, Startle, Easter Bells, Bubbling Over, Windy City, Sweetheart, Black Gold, Helens Babe, Clyde Van Dusen and others. CURRENTS GREAT HISTORY. Just ten years ago this fall Current, owned by R. S. Clark, won the richest Breeders Futurity ever offered and ran the Futurity distance in the fastest time on record. Current, ridden by Earl Pool and carrying 124 pounds, ran the distance in 1:0S4,S to beat Windy City and Clyde Van Dusen, each with 122 pounds up. The race was worth 1,231 to Owner Clark. The first r-inning of the Breeders Futurity over the Keeneland course will have an added value of ,000 and it is expected to I gross approximately 7,000. A total of 185 two-year-olds are eligible and from that number a field of between ten and fifteen is anticipated. Each starter will pay an additional fee of 00. Included among the eligibles are Dinner Date, Eight Thirty, No Competition, On Location, Up the Creek, T. M. Dorsett; Beau j James, Allegro, Johnstown, War Plumage, Calumet Red, Lotta Bull, All Time High, Roll and Toss, Third Degree, She Did, Hants, Count Eleven, Gala Hour, Lightspur, Olney, Explode and others. MEETING OPENS OCTOBER 11. The Breeders Futurity will be the highlight of the third fall meeting to be held at the non-profit track. Keeneland racing opens on Tuesday, October 11, and will offer ten days of sport. There will be no racing on Monday, October 17. Stall applications already exceed the facilities, indicating plenty of horses for the program that has been arranged. Horsemen here for Keeneland racing also will attend the annual fall sales at the Lexington Sales Paddock where 478 thoroughbreds will be sold October 10 to 12, and the Thoroughbred Club dinner in honor of Mrs. Payne Whitney.
