MISS SARAH A GAME FILLY Captures Blue Springs Farm Purse Under Fowlers Energetic Ride. Star Boarder, Odds-On Choice, Narrowly Fails After Closing Fast From Slow Beginning. LATONIA, Ky., Sept. 30. Predominance of Dixiana juveniles that has held securely for several years at Latonia, suffered a setback here this afternoon when Star Boarder, an odds-on favorite in the bettingbowed to William E. Smiths bay filly, Miss Sarah, which captured the Blue Springs Farm Purse, fourth and best on the card decided over the six furlongs route that brought a band of six youngsters to compete. The Rosedale Stables Wage Earner finished third, with Little Pinkey, Busy Man and Spanish Charm following in the order named. Making the tenth start of her racing career, the triumph in the Blue Springs Farm Purse was the fourth credited to the game little daughter of Harry Baker Kitty Yansen and did not come as a total surprise to the spectators, as she was held as second choice in the wagering outcome of the tilt. STAR BOARDER CONTENDER. Miss Sarahs success, though impressive by the manner in which she held with tenacity, was by no means a decisive one over Star Boarder, which began none too swiftly and had to use up much energy in getting to the leaders. As a consequence, the Smith representative proved capable of putsprint-ing her opposition virtually from the outset. Miss Sarah was hard pressed by Wage Earner and Spanish Charm during the opening quarter, while Star Boarder raced in fourth position, with Busy Man and Little Pinkey bringing up the rear. However, as a half-mile was traversed, Star Boarder, on the outside, moved up to second place and made a bid for the lead. The red and white silks of Mrs. Edward Haughton were flaunted to victory for the second time during the day when apprentice Charles Charlton, guided Glasby to an easy score in the Sanford Town Claiming Purse, taking the measure of the favored Star Banner by two lengths, and Bitter Beny finished in third position. RDDES HARD. Vigorously and energetically rousing Miss Sarah, jockey Glenn Fowler kept the bay I filly at top speed as Star Boarder steadily . crept up and reduced the margin separating j him from the lead, but the closest that the .son of Sweepall could get to the front was a head behind Miss Sarah when the finish I mark was reached. The race decided over a fast track was traversed in 1:12 and supporters of the I winner drew down .40 for straight. The Blue Springs Farm Purse, the only . number on the bill minus the claiming card, I shared the spotlight with the Sanford Town Purse. Although for platers, it brought together a higher grade of this division for a mile and a sixteenth test in the sixth.
