EIGHT RACES PROVE POPULAR! - i i Sportsmans Park Move Made to Take Care of Number of Horses Available for Sport. CICERO, 111., Sept. 30 The decision of the National Jockey Club to stage eight races at least for the first week of the Sportsmans Park meeting opening October 10, struck a popular note among horsemen and also will appeal to fans who watch the horses circumnavigate the little half-mile oval. Officials for the track decided upon eight races on each of the first six days of the season when they took cognizance of the large number of horses which will be here to take part in the sport. Originally the Sportsmans Park program provided for only seven races daily, with eight on Saturdays. Robert S. Shelley, general manager and racing secretary, is due here Sunday and upon his arrival will write the conditions for the additional races and they will be posted in plenty of time for the perusal of owners and trainers.
