NEW ORLEANS FOOTING SLOW Little Likelihood of Track Becoming Fast for Fridays Sport Capacity Fields Named. NEW ORLEANS, La., Nov. 24. Because of the little likelihood that the racing strip would be firm Friday, many of the better horses will remain in their barns, but nevertheless well-watched fields will meet in a majority of the races on Fridays card at the Fair Grounds. Another reason the top-notch-ers will not be seen in action is that a number of them took part in the Thanksgiving Handicap on opening day and more of them are scheduled to get into action in the Dixie Handicap on Friday. The racing strip was drying out some this afternoon and if no more rain falls it should be in good condition by Saturday. OFF DAY CARD. Tomorrows card is typical of an off-day as the claiming clause is part of the conditions for each of the seven events. The first race and the sixth are for better grade platers and they should be interesting enough. The opening contest is to be decided at six furlongs and the sixth at a mile and seventy yards. Without exception, all of the races attracted capacity fields and, since the horses were entered when the track was muddy, it is not likely that many of those on the original card will be withdrawn. While there are many horses familiar to local racegoers on the program, there also are many which will be racing here for the first time and their performances against the old favorites will be watched with keen interest
