MINTSON worked his way forward on the outside early, swung to the inside on the stretch turn when the leaders came wide, entered contention with a rush and drew out after displacing SURPRISE BOX. The latter was a keen contender from the start and wore down ISAIAH, but could not withstand the winner. ISAIAH had good speed while setting the pace, but failed to rally to punishment. CRUISING was ridden hard, but could not keep up. DARK FRIEND was stoutly ridden and had no mishaps. EPICAL tired in the last quarter mile. APPREHEND could not reach the leaders. BLACK ARROW found racing room, but was never dangerous. The others were outrun. THE STORY gained steadily in the last half mile, overhauled the leaders when reaching the stretch, tired after drawing clear and had to be vigorously urged to withstand PETIT JEAN. The latter dropped far out of contention, went to the outside for racing room and finished with a tremendous rush in the late stages. GODSPEED improved his position steadily, came between horses and finished gamely. JACK FLY was ridden stoutly to keep up with the leaders, but was unable to stay when the real test came. SQUABBLE raced well. YOMER was hurried vigorously and failed to stay after getting into a short lead. BYRDS FLIGHT tired in the last five-sixteenths. VESTALE could not reach contention. BOOK READER raced wide after starting slowly. ALGHERO showed a flash of early speed. FREE RIDE tired early. RED ROBIN was placed on the outside of the stalls for the start. GREEDAN was prominent in the early racing, went to the leaders steadily and finished with good courage. LONG WINDED bettered her position gradually, made a wide turn into the stretch and tired after making a bold bid midway of the stretch. ANN MOWLEE was well up from the beginning and continued gamely to the finish. OAK APPLE was steadied in front, but failed to stay when placed to punishment. BURNER lacked early speed and could not reach contention. NONCONNAH challenged stoutly on the final turn, then tired. HOLIDAY TEA was placed on the outside for the start. SCORIA tired early. SCOUT ABOUT fell when the saddle slipped on the final turn. PEON was crowded back on the turn out of the back stretch and fell. LATEPASS outfinished FOXSHADE. The latter was under strong pressure through the stretch turn. PART ONE was tiring in the final drive. CONQUER was hurried to the first turn to gain a forward position, raced in-close pursuit of SCROOGE" for three-quarters, went to the front on the turn out of the back stretch, was kept under vigorous pressure and barely lasted long enough to stall off CLODION. The latter was hustled to gain a forward positionj responded stoutly when shaken up and finished on the outside, just failing to get up. UNHERALDED raced strong from the beginning, responded readily when placed to a drive and came determinedly between the first two in the stretch drive. MR. CANRON, starting slower than usual and a trailer for three-quarters, swung to the outside and finished full of run. CHANCEVIEW was ridden stoutly and showed a good effort.
