SKY GLARE, well rated in the early running, moved up steadily after leaving the back stretch to challenge VALIANT FOX In the last eighth and was going strongly at the end to win narrowly. VALIANT FOX opened up a Ions; lead in the early running and, having something left when challenged, raced well to the Finish. BARNSLEY, badly ridden, was rushed through an opening on the inside during the back stretch and, racing up on the heels of VALIANT FOX rounding the far turn, was forced to take up, then came to the outside in the stretch, losing much ground, but finished close up and was probably best. BELOW ZERO dropped back when the real racing began. STAR SCOUT, racing in four bandages, brok down after going half the distance. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. PERFECT BLEND raced to the front early and, after racing BIBLIOPHILE into submission, withstood a challenge from DONT FORGET and won handily. DONT FORGET made a strong move on the outside of the winner in the stretch and raced fairly well to the end. BIBLIOPHILE was used up racing with PERFECT BLEND In the early stages and tired in the stretch. AUDACIOUS LADY turned in a good effort. FRANK O. leaped into the air at the start and was off poorly, then closed a gap. PANSYS THIRD could not keep up. STROUD quit. Overweight Perfect Blend, 1 pound: Vade Retra, 2. EURIPIDES was saved for a half mile, then came fast on the outside to catch the early leaders after entering the stretch and, going well to the finish, had enough left to hold BOULEVARD safe. The latter came in resolute fashion through the stretch and was slowly gaining on the winner. SUSI Q. had much taken out of her following the early pace of SUFFERN and outfinished the latter at the end, although tiring. SUFFERN showed fine speed in pacemaking, but tired in the stretch and probably needed the race. POLVOS PRINCE was in close quarters on the inside when unable to head SUFFERN rounding the far turn and, taken back, never figured seriously thereafter. CALAVERAS and NEDROB found the pace too fast and, although closing ground, never threatened seriously. Overweight Suffern, 2 pounds. EIGHTH HACE 1 MILE AND 70 YARDS. CANNIBAL came very fast in the last quarter to catch SANTOURI, tired in the last sixteenth while opening up a short lead and was doing his best at the end to hold LADY JAQUELINE safe. The latter was badly outrun in the stretch and came to the middle of the track to make her move, but finished very fast. ETHELMONT made her move too late, but closed with a rush on the inside. SANTOURI set the early pace under restraint and drew out when let down after leaving the back stretch, but tired in the last eighth. LT. GREENOCK was used up chasing SANTOURI in the early part and tired in the stretch. TENACE could never get within striking distance of the leaders, although finishing fairly well.
