1 1 I , . i HAVANA ARRANGES FOR FEED Racing Association Will Furnish Fodder to Owners at Cost. Move Expected to Help Horsemen Keep Down Expenses Rumage Reserves Eight StaUs. HAVANA, Cuba, Nov. 24. Albert Levey, president of the Havana-American Racing Association, is giving horsemen a break that they never dreamed could happen. In other words, the new prexy of Cuban turfdom will sell all feed for the horses that will compete on the beautiful Oriental Park track beginning January 12 and winding up March 12, at cost. James F. Milton, famous starter, who will serve as general manager for the winter meeting, notified Levey today that he has ordered 10,000 bags of oats and as many tons of hay, to be delivered at the stables by December 10. "The horsemen will get the feed and pay off just what the contract calls for," announces Levey. "This should help keep down their expenses" The feed is the finest that money could buy. The horse food is coming all the way from Blanchester, Ohio. Theres nothing too good for the animals, and our policy is to give the horsemen a helping hand." Milton also notified Levey that H. C. Rum-age of New Orleans has applied for eight stalls, one of many applications for stable reservations. Bob Shelley is ready to ship six carloads from the Narragansett track. An army of painters and carpenters went to work repairing the grandstand and clubhouse yesterday, while another small army are engaged in dolling up the infield. This is the first time in six years that any repairs have been made on the picturesque structure. The Casino Nacional, which opens December 23, is also undergoing costly repairs and painting.
