ANOPHELES, close to KLUANI in the early part and well rated, wore down the latter when ready in the stretch to get to the front in the last eighth and won under mild urging. KLUANI showed good early speed in the going, hut tired near the end. BRIGHT EAGLE was well up throughout and raced gamely to the end. PREDILECTION closed ground. VALLEDISTO raced wide. GEANA was in close quarters round-ing the far turn. GYPSY FRED "lacked early speed, but was going well at the finish. REIDA WOOD had speed to the stretch, then tired. Overweight Anopheles, 2 pounds. SHASTA BUDDY was well up from the start and raced strongly to the finish. URGE ME displayed good early speed, but tired in the stretch. QUALITY SHOT closed some ground. CHIEF MENTEUR never seriously threatened the early leader, raced, wide in the stretch and tired. PETER F. stumbled and lost his rider after going a quarter. EDITH raced to the front early and, although racing rather wide rounding the far turn, drew away from JONIES GIRL nearing the stretch turn and had little trouble holding IMMUNITY. The latter was hard ridden through the stretch in an attempt to catch the winner and had no excuses. ONE MILE made up ground and collided with JONIES GIRL in the stretch. BLUE HOUR raced close up on the outside of DO IT and ALSTON to the stretch, then drew awav from the latter, but was no match for the winner in the final drive. BLACK TOREADOR made up ground steadily to finish fairly well. ALSTON was prominent to the stretch, then tired. OVLOP was outrun all the way. COUNSELLOR FAL raced steadily.
