CLARCAROLE caught FOAM after leaving the back stretch to open up a good lead entering the stretch and, gradually increasing her advantage, won in hand. FOAM showed good early speed in the going, but was unable to resist the winner, although racing fairly well. DENBIGH was badly outrun for half the distance, then closed some ground on the inside. SKY GLARE, a trailer in the early part, closed ground in lh stretch. RETURN CHECK had some early speed. GREENOCK, liking the going, had speed from the start and, drawing out nearing the stretch turn, was never in danger thereafter, winning in hand. STEP BY was outrun early, then made a strong move while saving ground to reach contention and raced well to the end. KLISTER had early speed, but tired in the stretch. JESSIE CLOUD also tired. PAPER SUN, close up from the start and well ridden, came through an opening in the stretch to catch AMNERIS near the end and held CROSS S. in a driving finish. CROSS S., taken back when in close quarters rounding the first turn, came to the middle of the track on the stretch turn to make his move and finished gamely. AMNERIS raced to the front of CALAVERAS rounding the far turn to open up a good lead and saved ground in the stretch, but tired near the finish. DEER FLY made a strong move on the outside after leaving the back stretch, but his rider was blinded by flying mud and was unable to do him justice in the rim home. CALAVERAS had early speed, but was done after going three-quarters. BAR PLAY also tired. Overweight Amneris, 2 pounds. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Special Agent, March 14, 19361:434105. Purse 00. LEE TORCH, closest to SAHARA CHIEF in the early running, took command in the stretch when the latter began to tire and had enough left at the end to withstand a challenge from SKEETSHOOTER in the last eighth to win narrowly. SKEETSHOOTER trailed in the early stages, but came fast on the outside after going half the distance to finish close up. BON HAMBURG, forced to take up right after the start, made up much ground. CELER DOR dropped back early and was never a serious threat, although closing some ground. SAHARA CHIEF, SPAZZ and RECOATNA tired. TOMLIN was in close quarters on the far turn.
