ANNOUNCE HOLLYWOOD PLANS Minimum Purses of 00 and Eight Races Daily Planned. Race Track Proper Completed at New Florida Course Elaborate Plans for Plant Two Stables Built. MIAMI, Fla., Nov. 30. The first definite announcement of the plans of the Hollywood Jockey Club were made, by Joel H. Hurt, Jr., one of the vice-presidents, today. He promised that the minimum purse value would be 00, with eight races each day. There will also be the public handicapping contest with cash prizes to patrons successful in picking winners. The racing strip proper has about been completed and both the inner and outer rails are placed. There is no grandstand but one is contemplated with a capacity for 7,000. At present the only stand is a small bleacher affair. Between 200 and 300 men are now employed about the grounds and Mr. Hurt expressed a confidence that all would be in readiness for an opening January 11. The dates conflict with those of the Miami Jockey Club at Hialeah Park, and with the racing in Cuba, but a confidence is expressed by the promoters that the venture will be a paying one. LETTENDRE IN CHARGE. John L. Lettendre, of the board of directors, will be in charge of the sport and he has had some experience through his association with the Narragansett Park sport. He is due in Florida and announcement will be made of the officials with his arrival. J. C. Horning, the majority stockholder, Is in Washington at this time on business connected with the venture. He is a contractor who had charge of the construction before he took over a majority of the stock including the holdings of Joseph M. Smoot. Plans for the course contemplate an ornate plant, if they are carried out as pictured, but so little has been accomplished at this time that there seems little chance for the carrying out of all these promises, only two stables have been completed but two others are in the course of construction. No thoroughbreds are on the grounds but some applications have been received for stalls.
