j STOCKYARDS STRIKE MAY I j SPREAD TO OTHER POINTS j The strike tying up trade in Chicagos stockyards was in danger of spreading to other live stock centers Wednesday, as negotiations for a settlement bogged down. Meetings between the management of the yards and officials of the striking handlers union, under a federal mediator, were postponed until next Monday. As a result, Don Harris, director of the Packing House Workers Organizing Committee, said he was telegraphing all other locals to determine if the packers here have transferred operations to other cities to defeat the strikers. Receipts at other live stock markets have increased considerably since the strike was called a week ago Monday, and Harris said if a concerted move is under way to keep the Chicago yards closed, he would "send instructions to other PHWOC units."
